Registration

How do I register?

To register, simply click on one of the registration buttons throughout the website and follow the prompts!

Can I create a team?

Yes! Click the registration button and select the team option. You will need a team captain who can share the team link with your network. 

Each member of the team will need to register via the link you share with them.

I require assistance. Can I bring my carer?

Yes! Carers and support people can register for FREE alongside your registration. We will need your carer's details - follow the prompts during the online registration process.  

How much is it to register?

Depending on which event type suits you, pricing to register will vary. Support companions for any event can register for free during the registration process.

1.5km Walk event:

Standard ticket - $35.00
Last minute ticket - $40.00

5km Walk, Run or Nordic Walk events:

Standard ticket - $50.00
Last minute ticket - $55.00

When do registrations close?

Online registrations will close at 23:59 on Thursday 16 May 2024. To take advantage of our Early Bird pricing, we'd encourage you to register before 28 March 2024. Register early to get your body ready and raise the most funds for greater impact!

Can I enter more than one event?

As the start times vary for each event, you can only register for one type. Please contact our events team if you wish to change your selection: events@hospitalresearch.org.au

What are the requirements for participating in the Nordic Walking category?

In the interest of participant safety and the integrity of Nordic Walking, the Nordic Walking Event will be carried out in line with International Nordic Walking Federation Competition requirements. In line with these standards, only people using recognised Nordic Walking poles and technique are eligible to participate in the Nordic Walk/Run category.  For more information on Nordic Walking visit the International Nordic Walking Federation.

On the day

What time does the event start and end?

There are different start times, depending on the event you have registered for. Event Village is open from 8am.


Once you’re registered, please keep an eye on your emails for exact event times or any changes to the schedule.

Will there be toilets, drink stations and first-aid locations?

Accessible and portable toilets are located at the Event Village and public toilets are located around Lake Burley Griffin at different locations.

First aid will be stationed in the Event Village. There will also be a variety of food and drink options available to purchase in the Event Village.

Water will be provided to all participants in the recovery area after they complete the race. There will also be a drink station approximately halfway around the 5km course.

Can I run or walk as a support person for someone who needs assistance?

Carers can register for FREE with a paying participant. Follow the prompts during the registration or contact our events team: events@hospitalresearch.org.au

Can I run or walk with my pet?

For the safety of other walkers, all animals except support dogs are prohibited from walking or running the course. However, dogs on leads are welcome in the event village.

Can I run or walk with a pram?

Prams are permitted in all events free of charge. Please start at the back of your wave for safety reasons.

Is the event wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The 1.5km route is on a fully paved surface.

Can I use public transport to get to and from the event?

Is there parking available?

ANZAC Park West and CIT Car Parks
All attendees to the Walk to Fight Parkinson’s – Canberra event should be aware that it is an offence under the National Land (Road Transport) Ordinance 2014 to park a vehicle in an open space in the area where the ‘Event’ is being held.

Open space is any area that is not designed for the movement or parking of motor vehicles, such as grassed areas, footpaths and landscaped areas.

The National Capital Authority will be enforcing parking regulations for the duration of this event, and attendees should ensure they park legally to avoid the risk of an infringement being issued to their vehicle.

How do I fundraise?

When you complete your registration, you'll automatically be guided through your online fundraising page. Why not get started with a self-donation! 

All donations can be made online through your fundraising page. Simply send the link to your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your efforts.

How do I share my fundraising page?

Your fundraising page has a unique website address (URL).  An easy way to share your fundraising page is to log in to your fundraiser dashboard and click the 'share on social' icon.

You can also copy your link and email it your family, friends and networks.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible. Anyone who donates $2 or more online will automatically receive a receipt.

Every dollar raised helps progress our life-changing research, improve and expand our services to maximise choice, independence, mental health and wellbeing for people living with Parkinson's.

Who is The Hospital Research Foundation Group?

The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Parkinson’s is a charity of The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF) Group.

The Hospital Research Foundation Group supports over 50 areas of medical research and patient care and exists to deliver hope through life-changing medical research, improved care in our hospitals and support services in the community.
